HEALING-CENTERED BARBERS
Healing-Centered Barber Training is a training that essentially encourages barbers and cosmetologists to integrate holistic mental and emotional wellness practices while providing haircuts and beauty services.
Participants will be certified through Mended Arrows Academy of Barbering Inc., affirming their roles as mental health advocates.
BARBER-PRENEUR PROGRAM
The Barberpreneur program is a 8 week course that provides participants the opportunity to explore opportunities within the barbering industry while gaining guidance and support from healing-centered instructors.
The course is founded on three pillars which include: Personal Development, Entrepreneurship, and Basic Barbering skills. Upon program completion participants will receive a certification and a opportunity to enroll in Barber School to recieve hours and licensure.
Participants will receive hands on training in barbering, exposed to entrepreneurship principles by successful business men and women within the barbering industry, and challenged to develop personally through guided curriculum and life lessons.
T(HAIR)APY CUTS IN SCHOOL
Mended Arrows provide a safe and trusted space for the students at Renaissance School who have been suspended from their home school, as well as providing access to therapeutic opportunities through positive social interaction.
Mended Arrows continues to offer guidance and mentorship, a sense of community, and skill-building experiences. We also offer haircuts, which have helped to boost the confidence and self-esteem of the students. Furthermore, we offer advice and help to introduce the student to potential career paths in the barbering industry.

Program Overview:
The Fade Away Violence Barber Initiative is a full-day immersive workshop hosted at participating barbershops around Indianapolis. Our initiative goes beyond the chair by empowering barbers and cosmetologists to incorporate mental and emotional well-being into their services. Through specialized training, these professionals are equipped to become certified Healing-Centered Barbers and Mental Health Advocates, ready to make significant, positive impacts on their clients’ lives.
What the Initiative Includes:
1. Healing-Centered Barber Training:
– Encourages barbers and cosmetologists to integrate holistic mental and emotional wellness practices while providing haircuts and beauty services.
– Certifies participants through Mended Arrows Academy of Barbering Inc., affirming their roles as mental health advocates.
2. Community Resource Education:
– Trains barbers to be well-versed with local community resources, ensuring they can offer informed support and referrals to clients in need.
3. Adopting a Mentorship Role:
– Promotes the adoption of a client or community member for monthly mentorship, fostering ongoing guidance and support.
4. Barbershop as a Safe Space:
– Encourages barbershops to serve as safe havens for youth seeking guidance and support.
5. Life-Saving Skills Training:
– Mental Health First Aid: Equips barbers with the know-how to identify and support those with mental health issues.
– Stop the Bleed Training: Prepares barbers to administer immediate care in the event of a shooting.
– Overdose Training: Teaches barbers how to effectively administer Narcan to reverse opioid overdoses and distribute fentanyl testing strips.
– Conflict Management Tips: Provided by a licensed therapist to offer strategies for managing and mediating conflicts.
6. Community Service:
– Barbers will offer free haircuts to individuals aged 18-35, applying their training in a real-life setting while prioritizing community care.
